I have decided. I need to query more agents in each ‘batch’ because otherwise, I will be over a year querying them all! Time for a re-visit to Query Manager.

There is a sense of anticipation, waiting for a literary Agent’s response but at the same time I feel an anti-climax. My days were spent writing that book for a year then suddenly…there is nothing to write. In fact, I need something to do, if I can’t query all the agents. I might be waiting

So…it’s not just a question of emailing these agents and saying ‘will you represent me?’  First of all, you need to check on their websites, or their web page if they are part of an agency, and understand what they are requesting. Bio? Book blurb…or perhaps the full synopsis? 1 chapter or 3 or 3000

I checked each of the first four agents’ requirements, assembled the documents and sent them off. Now the waiting begins

I have compiled the list of literary agents on Query manager, who are open to queries and interested in Crime Fiction, the genre my book falls under. 161 literary agents. Surely one of them will be interested? I only need one. Let’s get started in sending out the queries properly.

Convention and advice say do not splatter-gun your query pitch to all of them at once. The suggested is somewhere between 5 and 10 at a time. This is because there may be some error in your query proposal which can be corrected for subsequent queries. I selected 4 names from the list. Now to
