As you know, I have been sick (I still am), and as a result, I have not been writing. At all.
Recently though, I again started considering making progress with the help. I have to decide how the next victim is killed, after the mega-chapter where three Merriman family men (and one woman) all died in the same gruesome incident!
I had one idea, which would have worked but in doing so, I started to think about alternatives, i.e. was there a better or more unusual toxin source? Once I commenced with the research, it dawned on me that … This might be the basis for a…different book!
I started scribbling furiously, getting ideas down, researching more toxins, and finding the initial plausible storyline. Then I started doing something that so far in my writing career I had not done – I started to write a proper, sequential storyline. Before I knew it, I had fully described 3 of the 5 murders, started working on the embellishments and rich detail and added the police input and case progression. Over 3,300 words!
And so… ‘The Botanist’s Wife’ was born. Another D.I Graham Tonnick novel, btw. should be fun completing this one!!
